We make it a priority to keep residents engaged, interested, and active to the fullest extent possible. Short-term and long-term residents alike enjoy a full complement of social and recreational activities designed to keep hands nimble, bodies moving, minds active and spirits up. These include:
Birthday and Parties
Dar El Mona is a very festive medical organization. We celebrate a variety of occasions all year round including: mother’s day, new year, easter etc.
We also celebrate our clients’ birthday each month. We offer many aspects of entertainment such as Turkish Tanoura, Egyptian shows, singers as well as an open buffet offering a variety of delicious food and deserts.
Trips and Exertions
Individual and group trips are planned and coordinated for our patients in Dar El Mona to places within and outside Cairo. The main goal of these trips is to boost our client’s moral, and break the routine, aiming to make the best out of our therapeutic program.
Our culture program
In 2014 Dar El Mona opened a huge library “DR. KHAIRY SAMRA LIBRARY “ affiliated to the Egyptian General Authority For National Library and Archives .The first library in Egypt to be established in a medical organization holding five hundred books in all different subjects as well as the kids’ corner for storytelling.
Literature is well celebrated through competitions and seminars that raise money for the benefit of our patients. Prizes and awards ceremonies are held to recognize winners with literary preferences and art work.
During the Cairo international book fair that is held once a year in Egypt, Dar El Mona’s Dr khairy samra library is keen to provide our patient with the same spirit by carrying out a small version of the book fair.
Our musical program
From a therapeutic perspective, music has a number of benefits for people with disabilities. A portion of the benefits of music comes from the fact that repetition within music may be more enjoyable than without it. Music also provides significant memorization assistance. Maybe the most important thing for some people is the fact that they can participate in music even if they experience difficulties in other areas. Successful participation in music can find a person with a disability feeling motivated to pursue additional effort therefore Dar El Mona is holding a weekly assembly in the main hall with our famous lutenist playing classic and modern Arabic songs for our clients. Also one to one lute session is also available for the patients who are not capable of leaving their rooms.
